Founded in 2018, Baltimore Safe Haven (BSH) has quickly become an essential resource and supportive community for TLGBQIA+ individuals in Baltimore. Recognizing the diverse needs of the community, BSH has grown to provide a variety of programs focused on housing, mental health support, integrated physical health services, workforce development, legal support, advocacy, and community building.
BSH’s impactful work has earned widespread recognition, including a feature on the cover of TIME magazine, and the organization continues to advocate for the rights and well-being of TLGBQIA+ individuals at the local, state, and national levels.
Excitingly, BSH is now expanding its reach by acquiring a vacant property in Middle East to create a 28-bed housing facility and community hub. This new space will offer affordable, supportive housing alongside critical services such as mental health support, employment assistance, and medical care. With this acquisition, BSH will continue to empower and uplift Baltimore’s most vulnerable residents, creating opportunities for TLGBQIA+ individuals to thrive and overcome the challenges they face.
NIIF was proud to provide a $1.89 million grant bridge loan to Baltimore Safe Haven, enabling the organization to acquire the property and broaden the services it offers.
